Riley Giveback Weekend Recap 2023

Riley Giveback Recap 2023 Header

Each July since 2013 Lucas Oil Center has hosted a giveback event supporting Riley Children’s Foundation and the amazing work they do to help sick and injured kids who need life-saving care. What initially began as a simple giveback day has now grown into a full giveback weekend and a car show with a portion of proceeds from the entire weekend going to Riley. This year marks the second year Lucas Oil Center has hosted its Riley Giveback Weekend, taking place from Friday, July 21 to Sunday, July 23, with the Riley Giveback Car Show capping the weekend off on Sunday.

During the weekend, our staff at both locations wore red Riley Giveback Weekend shirts as they worked to help promote the event. And on Saturday, Joey Za’s Pizza & Steaks food truck stopped by our east side location to provide a nice bite to eat to anyone who came in.

Riley Giveback Car Show at Lucas Oil Center West

By far the biggest part of our Riley Giveback Weekend has to be the Riley Giveback Car Show. This year we had 102 cars registered and raised over $2,000 from the car show alone. Each car registered was entered into our door prize drawing which included prizes such as Lucas Oil Center gift cards, Nitro Wash gift books, and other miscellaneous Lucas Oil merch. Lucas Oil Products and Riley’s Children Foundation also provided door prizes for the event.

Trophies and the Award categories for the Riley Giveback Car Show

We also had eight award categories, Best Motorcycle or Bike, Best Car, Best Truck, Best Jeep, Best Racecar, People’s Choice, Owner’s Choice, and Best in Show (You can see each of the winners with their vehicle in the gallery below).

– Colts Tickets Giveaway –

Thanks to our partners at Lucas Oil Products, we also had something new to offer during this year’s Riley Giveback Weekend. Lucas Oil Products donated four tickets to any 2023-2024 home Colts game that were then given away to one lucky customer who stopped in during the weekend and got an oil change or car wash. Don Brown from Newburgh, IN was our lucky winner and was extremely grateful to have won.

– How Much We Raised –

Fifteen percent of the proceeds from all car washes throughout the weekend at the east side Lucas Oil Center’s Nitro Wash and fifteen percent of the proceeds from all oil changes at both the east and west side Lucas Oil Center locations on Saturday, July 22 were donated to Riley. Along with this, any donations raised at either location throughout the month of July or at the car show, and the Riley Giveback Car Show’s registration fees and People’s Choice voting fees were donated as well.

Last year, Lucas Oil Center raised $3,900. This year, Lucas Oil Center’s grand total donation was $6,000. And to help give back even further we enlisted the help of our partners at Lucas Oil Products to match our total donation. Between Lucas Oil Center and Lucas Oil Products, we were able to donate $12,000 to Riley Children’s Foundation this year!

Our marketing manager, Chris Payne, and owner, Bill Floyd, proudly presented the check with our total donation contribution at 104FM WIKY’s annual Riley Radiothon on Thursday, August 10. Needless to say, cohosts Dennis Jon Bailey and Diane Douglas were thrilled to see our final total.

– Why Riley & How You Can Donate –

Lucas Oil Center has a strong family connection with Riley Children’s Foundation as two of owner Bill Floyd’s grandchildren have received critical care at Riley Children’s Hospital. We are proud to be able to support such a great cause year after year. If you would like to support Riley Children’s Foundation or learn more about the foundation and what they do, visit RileyKids.org.

– Thank You –

As a final mention we would like to thank the hardworking teams at Lucas Oil Center and the Nitro Wash, our partners at Lucas Oil Products, 104FM WIKY, It Takes a Village No-Kill Rescue, Sweet Dreams À La Mode, Joey Za’s Pizza & Steaks, Mike Halas for providing the sound equipment at the car show, and each person who stopped in during our Riley Giveback Weekend or came out to our Riley Giveback Car Show. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without your help, and we’re looking forward to making next year’s giveback weekend even bigger.
