Lucas Oil Center Back to School Drive Supports EVSC Elementary School

With the school season starting, Lucas Oil Center was looking for a way to help support local schools as the new year began. Oftentimes many schools are in need of additional supplies. So, we put together our first Back to School Drive, a new giveback program seeking to provide some additional supplies to schools in the Evansville area.

Throughout the first two weeks of August, customers and employees were asked to bring in #2 pencils, notebooks, colored pencils, glue sticks, loose leaf paper, backpacks, folders, crayons, highlighters, erasers, or any other useful school supplies. The collected supplies would then be donated to an EVSC school with the highest need.

Stockwell Elementary located on Stockwell Road in Evansville

Stockwell Elementary, off of Stockwell Road on Evansville’s east side, was the school selected by EVSC to receive the collected supplies. Our marketing coordinator, Trent Thompson, got in touch with the school and stopped by to present its principal, Danielle Owen, with the collected supplies (see picture at start of article).

Opening in 1971, Stockwell Elementary is a kindergarten through fifth grade school that teaches roughly 500 students. Known as the Stockwell Stars, their mission is to provide outstanding educational opportunities through shared, committed responsibility. Stockwell Elementary hosts a diverse student body with twelve percent of students being multi-language learners.
