Lucas Oil Center was founded in 2008 by Bill Floyd, an industry veteran and former president of the Preventative Automotive Maintenance Association (PAMA) with decades of experience in automotive service. With a deep passion for cars and an unwavering commitment to quality, Bill set out to create more than just an oil change shop – he envisioned a full-service automotive maintenance and car wash center that would redefine convenience and service standards. Bill found a willing participant in Forrest Lucas, Lucas Oil Products Founder and President Who readily agreed to License the Lucas Oil name.
“We’ve spent years developing what I believe are the very finest products of their kind for a wide variety of applications. Lucas Oil Center will be a perfect medium for getting them to the general public,” Lucas said. “There are many people who are familiar with the Lucas brand, but have not used our products because until now they’ve only been available to-do-it yourself enthusiasts who service their own vehicles. I’m really excited about the growth potential here.”
In June 2011, the first Lucas Oil Center opened its doors at 2650 N. Green River Road, Evansville, IN. Designed as a one-stop shop, it quickly gained recognition for its combination of express oil changes, comprehensive vehicle maintenance, and the state-of-the-art Nitro Car Wash. The center’s commitment to quality, fast service, and friendly customer care helped it stand out, earning awards and a growing customer base.
By 2017, Lucas Oil Center had expanded with a second location at 4807 W. Lloyd Expressway, bringing the same dedication to excellence to the west side of Evansville. Over the years, the company has continued to innovate, integrating new services and refining its operations to meet the ever-evolving needs of drivers.
Today, Lucas Oil Center remains family-owned and operated, with Bill Floyd’s daughters, April Maxey, a current PAMA Board Member, and Ashley Shofner, taking the reins in 2025. Their leadership continues to uphold the vision and values set by their father, ensuring that Lucas Oil Center remains a pillar of the Evansville community.
